Publishing your Web site with Microsoft Publisher 2003
 |
Details needed
To publish your website you will need the login
and password for your nethost hosting
account. |
Step One
Select "Publish
to the Web..." from the "File"
Menu.

Step Two
A warning box will appear explaining the need for a web hosting
account. Simply click "Ok" (you
may like to tick the check box to avoid this warning in the
future).

Step Three
You must now select where to publish
your website.
First click the down arrow
next to "Desktop".
Next select "Add/Modify
FTP Locations" (see second image below).

Step Four
You now can enter the ftp details for your hosting
account. These details are contained in the Welcome Email
you received when your hosting acccount was setup. Once all
the details (in red below) have been entered click "Ok".

Step Five
The new FTP Address has been added. You can now select
this address as the location to publish to, either by double
clicking it, or selecting it (click once) and clicking "Open".
Once selected you will see a list of fodlers
- these are folders in your hosting account on the server.
You must select "public_html" by
double-clicking it (see second image below).

Step Six
You now need to specify a filename for the homepage
of your site. We recommend you call this page index.html
(There may already be an index.html file uploaded, if so simply
double click it to overwrite).

Step Seven
Publisher will not begin uploading
your website. Depending on its size this may take quite some
time and you may not be able to use Publisher while this is
occuring.
Once Publisher has uploaded
the site we suggest you visit your website and ensure everything
has uploaded correctly and is functioning. If updates or changes
are required simply make these in Publisher and follow these
same steps to overwrite the existing website.
